Welcome to the coolest internship experience. Ever. Besides getting substantial work experience and a stipend, PowerPAC+ Political Media interns get access to special events like fundraisers and conferences, and the opportunity to create and produce multimedia projects.

Past interns have interviewed and/or attended events with New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, Attorney General Kamala Harris, Congressman Mark Takano, Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams, Nevada Assemblywoman Lucy Flores, and Stockton City Councilmember Michael Tubbs. Online Video Producer

We are seeking a talented visual storyteller to create and coordinate production of multimedia videos and visualizations for our websites, social media and upcoming Democracy in Color campaign.

The ideal candidate will have experience in nonfiction video production and generating creative approaches to profiles, interviews, animations and short documentaries. The yearlong internship is a stipended position in our San Francisco office.

Internship job description:

  • shoot, edit and publish one- to ten-minute videos in both linear and interactive formats for web and social media

  • create motion graphics, charts, and maps for campaign videos and articles

  • work closely with the PowerPAC+ communications team to plan, storyboard, conduct interviews and manage video projects

  • support the posting and promotion of video projects on various online platforms

Qualifications:

  • working knowledge of iMovie, Final Cut Pro, After Effects

  • knowledge of photography a plus

  • experience promoting videos on social media and blogs a plus 
  • Adobe Photoshop experience preferred

  • ability to collaborate and work with a diverse team

  • strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • interested in social justice and racial politics

  • an active consumer of social media and news

Writer/Researcher

We are seeking a talented writer and researcher to support development and production on writing, research, fact-checking and content development for our websites, public relations and upcoming Democracy in Color campaign.

The ideal candidate will have a sharp editorial eye and the experience devising, describing and outlining visual media projects. They should be an idea generator with a passion for storytelling and have a knack for presenting dense material in audience friendly formats. They should have extensive research skills, including phone and in person interviewing experience. The yearly internship is a stipened position in our San Francisco office.

Internship job description:

  • writing engaging and news-worthy blogs

  • assisting the team with research on political candidates, electoral races, press contacts and polling data

  • work closely with the PowerPAC+ communications team to plan, conduct interviews and pitch promising ideas for specials, features and series

Qualifications:

  • ability to collaborate and work with a diverse team

  • interested in social justice and racial politics

  • an active consumer of social media and news

  • strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • copywriting experience a plus

  • experience writing and commenting on campaigns and elections a plus
