More and more, Democratic victories depend on voters of color. So why don't the Democrats invest a sizable percentage of the more than $1 Billion they spend per election on hiring people and businesses from those communities? A recent PowerPAC+ report shows that the Democratic Party gives 98% of the money it spends on contractors to white consultants. It's time for the Democratic Party, and the organizations that back it, to start walking the talk on diversity.
It's not just about equality; it's about effectiveness. Consultancies led by people of color have expertise and cultural credibility that could be the deciding factor in efforts to turn out key voting blocks critical to Democratic candidate wins.
