- Login to the enroll page
- Click “Enroll Now” button
- Read the terms carefully
- Click “Continue”
- Click choose 2 boxes, then you will be asked to enter your TIN or EIN
- Click “I’m not a robot” and “Continue”.

Please have the following items available before you start deposit enrollment :
- Completed W9
- The names of one or two people in your practice who can assist in managing and monitoring your account
- Information about your practice such as name, phone number and email address
- To register for direct deposit, you will also need bank information (routing number (RTN), account number, account type and a validated check or bank letter).
Note: Subscribing to premium access can only be performed by existing admins who are linked to an organization’s tax ID or who are authorized to make decisions for a TIN.

Access The Information You Need
There are two options to access UnitedHealthcare financial information:
Basic portal access – free
- Available to all health care professionals and facilities enrolling in the Automated Clearing House (ACH)/Direct Deposit
- Beginning May 22, 2021, basic access includes unlimited users
- Online access to download PRAs as well as access to 835 files for each payment processed
- Access to payment data of up to 13 months
- Payment and Remittance Notification Emails
- Ability to connect to a third party billing service
Premium portal access – 0.5% per payment fee
Includes all the features of the basic portal access plus the following additional features when healthcare professionals opt for the premium access:
- Enhanced practice management features allow users to identify and sort through new payments, payments pending reconciliation, and payments fully reconciled
- Extended claim payment data indicates the number of claims consolidated into one payment
- Access to data aggregation tools, eliminating the need to download individual data files
Invoices for premium access are sent monthly for the previous month’s payment activity
- For example, for payments deposited via ACH in January, users will be billed in early February for the 0.5% fee per payment
- Fees are only billed above $10 per month and do not apply if below $10
- Fees are capped at $2,000 per accounting period per tax identification number (TIN).
The ability to subscribe to premium access is now restricted to existing admins who are linked to an organization’s tax ID number or who are authorized to make decisions for a TIN
Providers and facilities that receive virtual card payments receive premium access at no additional cost.
Choose The Electronic Payment Option You Prefer
There are two ways to receive claim payments electronicall for most UnitedHealthcare claims:
Automated Clearing House (ACH)/Direct Deposit
Process:
- Login to Optum Pay
- Select ACH Direct Deposit, opens in new window
- Choose the premium tier for a small fee or the basic tier for free
- Receive email notifications when payments be paid in payment portal
Considerations:
- There is a 0.5% fee per payment for the premium service**
- Receive payments and transfers five to seven days faster than with paper
- Reduced risk of lost, misdirected and stolen checks
- Possible omission of safe deposit box fees
- Funds will be deposited directly into the account(s) you specify
- Payments and transfers can be separated by NPI and/or payer
Virtual Card Payment (VCP)
Process:
- Login to the VCP
- You will receive your virtual card number(s) in the mail together with transfers
- Redeem the payment using the standard “Card Not Present” transaction on your credit card terminal (enter the exact dollar amount, 3-digit CVC, and expiration date)
Considerations:
- Credit card processing fees apply (check with your retailer)
- Receive payments and transfers five to seven days faster than with paper
- Reduced risk of lost, misdirected and stolen checks
- Potential elimination of safe deposit box fees
- You will receive a separate card number for each payer you receive payments from
